Updated Heisman Odds: LSU QB Jayden Daniels Surging

Daniels continues receiving national attention ahead of the 2023 season, cruising up Heisman lists.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels currently has the second best odds to win the 2023 Heisman Trophy, according to Draftkings Sportsbook.

Daniels, who enters year two in Baton Rouge, has received national attention all offseason with high expectations for this season.

The Arizona State transfer made the move to LSU last offseason, winning the quarterback competition over Garrett Nussmeier, and quickly strung together an impressive first season for the Tigers.

Daniels led Brian Kelly's program to the SEC Championship Game while putting his game together at a rapid pace.

Now, entering his second season in the same offense with several key returning players, Daniels has catapulted his status.

The Tigers' QB1 has the second best odds (+1100) behind USC's Caleb Williams (+450) to win the 2023 Heisman Trophy.

Here's what PFF had to say of Daniels and his run last season: "Jayden Daniels and LSU bounced back in a major way in 2022. He posted a career-high 87.8 grade in his first season in Baton Rouge while the Tigers went 10-4 after going a combined 11-12 in the previous two seasons. Daniels also led all quarterbacks in the country with 1,079 rushing yards and a 0.6% turnover-worthy play rate."

Former Heisman winner Matt Leinart believes Daniels could string together a magical season in Baton Rouge:

“Coming off an incredible year last year, [Jayden Daniels is] my darkhorse to actually win this thing,” Leinart said, according to On3. “He led all quarterbacks last year in rushing yards with nearly 1000 yards while knocking off Alabama."

LSU enters the 2023 season with high expectations and many experts within the industry envision the Tigers taking that next step in what could be a National Championship contending season.

For Daniels, it's been a busy offseason. He's traveled back and forth from California and Baton Rouge to train while making his presence felt in the NIL space.

Daniels recently inked deals with Powerade and Beats By Dre. The deal with Powerade quickly gained national attention after being one of five players earning the partnership.

Now, as the Tigers' starting quarterback enters his final season in Death Valley, he's certainly receiving attention across America with LSU poised to make a run in 2023.
