Miami brings in top Florida talent each year but it’s not the only state the Hurricanes like to recruit.

The State of Georgia also produces elite prep football talent year in and year out. Miami wants a piece of the pie as well. The Canes certainly made Georgia a priority of late, signing three Peach State prospects in 2023 and two more in 2024. That brings us to modern day.

On April 2, Miami hosted Suwanee (Ga.) Lambert running back Cameron Bland for an unofficial visit. 5-foot-10, 165-pound spoke with us on how his visit to Miami went, the latest in his recruitment.

"The Miami visit was great. It was my second time being there and the environment is amazing. Coach (Mario) Cristobal and Coach (Shannon) Dawson are two awesome coaches and I love what they're doing with the football program at Miami."

During his visit he spoke with Miami's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Shannon Dawson.

"I got a chance to speak with coach Dawson during my visit. We talked about like how he runs his offensive scheme and he talked about the missing pieces in the offense and how he's going to fix it. He also talked about what certain pieces he's missing. For example, a running back could be put in the slot so he can play in more open space.”

Bland also had this to say to Dawson during their conversation.

"He didn't say exactly how I would fit in his offense, but when he mentioned that he needs a running back that he could put at the slot position. I told him that I definitely fit what he's missing in the offense and I sent him my film. I don't know if he has evaluated it, but him and I have a good relationship and they plan to be back for our spring practice at Lambert High School."

With that being said he has other visits he had planned this week.

"I'll visit South Florida this week and Liberty this Saturday. I'm excited for both visits. It's going to be my first time at both schools. My high school coaches have a great connection to USF. Liberty offered me back in January so I can't wait to meet their staff as well," said Bland.

The Peach State running back said he also plans a return visit to Miami for a summer camp.

"I'm definitely plan on coming back to Miami for a camp. I haven't decided on a date yet but I love the campus and I need to be back at The U."

He explained that one school in particular is recruiting him the hardest at this time.

"I would say Liberty is recruiting me the hardest. They've been wanting me to come up to Virginia since last football season and they've been checking for me the most."

Bland had this to say if he had a timeline for making his college decision.

"No, I haven't planned a certain date for a commitment. I'm still waiting it out and letting more schools to come check me out."

Miami’s coaching staff seems to have given Bland a lasting impression on Miami as a whole. With Bland being in no rush, the Miami coaching staff has time to gather more information and see how he performs this summer during camp season.
