Odds makers adjust the betting lines to make the most money they can, including shifting the points spread when more action comes in on one team than another.

With that, the Houston Cougars are now laying more points than they were earlier in the week against the Miami Hurricanes.

The opening line had Houston -6.5 over the Miami Hurricanes per the SI Sportsbook. That’s also what FanDuel had as the opening line. That’s now -7.5, per the SI Sportsbook and FanDuel.

It can be difficult to say what has gamblers favoring the Cougars. That’s especially interesting considering the following comments from Covers writer Rohit Ponnaiya.

“As dominant as the Houston Cougars have been, this opening line seems a tad steep especially when you consider they haven't faced the toughest competition in the AAC.

“The ACC might not be elite but it's a competitive Power Six conference and Miami took home the regular season title thanks to an offense that ranks 11th in the country in adjusted efficiency, per KenPom.”

What Ponnaiya was alluding to the original line being -7 by some other sports books. He felt that was too high. Now, the line further moved in Houston’s favor.

Tomorrow night’s contest starts off with no score. It’s still interesting that the odds went up.

Game time will be 7:15 p.m. ET on CBS.
