It's Time To Buy Your Stock In Miami's Kyshawn George

AllHurricane's Liam Willerup Shares What Makes Kyshawn George A Special Talent And NBA Draft-Caliber
In this story:

Not many fans thought a three-star recruit from Switzerland would make much of an impact as a true freshman, but that's far from reality today.

Yesterday, Miami's Kyshawn George put up another impressive all-around performance and sealed the game with two clutch free throws to give the Hurricanes their 14th win of the season.

As a starter this season, George has put up averages of:

12.4 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 3,1 APG, 1.1 SPG, 42.3 3PT%

Standing at 6-foot 8 inches and 205 pounds, George has the ability to switch defensively around the perimeter and play as a combo guard on the offensive end. He's been trusted this season to defend some of Miami's top opponents.

When it comes to George being a potential prospect for the NBA, Jim Larrañaga said that "he passes the eye test" and there have been NBA scouts asking all about him since his arrival. One of the popular NBA draft websites, NBADraft.net, has George ranked as the 7th overall prospect in the upcoming 2024 Draft.

While I agree that George has the tools to one day be an NBA player, I don't know if I believe he's a Top-10 prospect at this very moment despite this being a "weak" class.

He still needs to fill his frame out more, and while it may not be his role in the NBA I'd like to see him be more of a shot creator. His three point shooting is typically done in catch-and-shoot scenarios, and the extra functional strength will allow for him to finish in contact against NBA level bigs.

At the end of the day, there's no denying that with how young he is and what he's been able to do in the ACC that he has a bright future in basketball. I do believe that if he stays another year to develop and return as one of the top players on the team, he could be a legit NBA prospect by then. He could still very well head off for the 2024 NBA Draft, as he'll have the remainder of the season likely as a starter to show it.
