Miami Captures A Quad 2 Win At Home, Beating The Panthers 72-68
With their confidence through the roof, Miami put on a display on both ends of the court to capture another much needed ACC win at the Watsco Center.
Norchad Omier and Nijel Pack led the way for Miami today, with Omier having 18 points and 10 rebounds and Pack scoring 17. Wooga Poplar also ended his streak of poor scoring outings with 17.
Leading the way for the Pittsburgh Panthers was Blake Hinson, one of the conference's top scorers, who finished with a game-high 21 points. The Panthers shot an inefficient 37.5% from the field, as star freshman Carlton Carrington had just four points (2-11 shooting).
Kyshawn George also continues to be a glue guy for the Hurricanes, putting up an all-around statline of 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists. George continues to get attention from the NBA since his arrival in Coral Gables, and Jim Larrañaga said he'll sit down with George and his family at the end of the season to discuss his future.
With Matthew Cleveland out with a hip injury, freshman wing Paul Djobet was able to receive some real rotational minutes for Miami. While he didn't put up any flashy stats, he showed potential to be a rotational piece for this team going forward. He finished with a team high +13 plus/minus.
Miami's rotation has seen many forms this year, but opted to go with Djobet and Michael Nwoko as the lone reserves for this matchup. Notable DNPs included AJ Casey and Christian Watson.
Looking forward to their next matchup, Miami travels up to Raleigh, NC to face the NC State Wolfpack on Tuesday for a chance to take down one of the top teams in the conference. The Panthers will travel back home to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Wednesday.
