Miami Escapes A Close One In South Bend, Moves To 4-4 In Conference Play With 73-61 Win
There's no debate: Norchad Omier is not only one of the best in the ACC but the nation overall.
After back-to-back losses against Florida State and Syracuse, the Miami Hurricanes were able to get back in their groove with a road win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 73-61.
It was all Omier tonight for Miami, posting his highest point total as a Hurricane with 33 to go along with 10 rebounds. Missing just two shots from the field all night, he returned back from his absence against Syracuse with a dominate performance.
Kyshawn George was again the pick over Bensley Joseph in the starting lineup, scoring a team second-best 11 points and adding all-around play. He projects to be a major returning piece for this Miami Hurricanes team for the 2024-25 season.
For the Irish, it was freshman guard Markus Burton leading the way with 15 points, extending his double-digit scoring streak to 12 games. However, his eight turnovers and four personal fouls didn't contribute much towards keeping the Irish in this game. Junior guard J.R. Konieczny had the second-best team total with 13.
The Irish will stay at home for their next matchup against Boston College, who just beat them 63-59 last week. Notre Dame stands at 2-6 in ACC play and 7-12 overall.
As for the Hurricanes, this win gives some much needed confidence boost as they look towards a rough schedule in the month of February. Before that, they'll play host to the Pittsburgh Panthers at the Watsco Center Saturday afternoon. Miami currently stands at 13-6 overall on the season.
While not the prettiest of wins, Jim Larrañaga and company got the job done and will look for the rest of their starting lineup to contribute more offensively going forward.
