Miami's Isaiah Wong Makes Third Team All-American
The National Association of Basketball Coaches awarded Miami senior guard Isaiah Wong to being a third team All-American.
It’s been a long time coming for the Miami senior guard. He’s been one of college basketball's true clutch players, and the honor was well deserved.
For the season, Wong’s averages went as follows: 16.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.4 steals. Additionally, Wong was a consistent shooter with 45.3% from the field, 38.5% from 3-point range, and 83.6% from the free throw line.
Looking at Wong throughout the 2022-2023 season, he scored in double figures in 26 of 32 games, including a personal scoring high of 27 points during Miami’s 96-87 shootout victory over Wake Forest on Feb. 18.
He was also a clutch performer when it mattered most. Despite scoring only 9 points versus Pittsburgh on March 4, he grabbed a rebound in the last minute and made a tremendous pass to a streaking Jordan Miller for a dunk that helped the canes stave off Pittsburgh, 78-76.
Heading into the NCAA Tournament, Miami will once again need Wong to be a playmaker. That will be especially true when playing a quality Drake basketball team that has Missouri Valley Conference player of the year Tucker DeVries, a player that’s averaged 19 points and 5.6 rebounds.
The #5 seeded Hurricanes will tip off versus the #12 seeded Bulldogs on Friday night, at 7:25, on TBS.
