Did Miami get a fair shake with the NCAA Tournament Committee?

That’s debatable, at best. Earlier today, an examination of why the Canes should have been placed with a higher seed was provided. Enough on that, for now.

Before giving an overview of the opponent for the Canes, keep in mind that the health of power forward Norchad Omier has not yet been discussed. That’s quite important. More will be known about him later this week.

Here’s a first look at Miami’s first opponent in the NCAA Tournament.

Drake Bulldogs

Overall Record: 27-7

KenPom Ranking: +12.51 (66)

Conference: Missouri Valley

Conference Record: 15-5

Best Player: Tucker DeVries, wing forward, 19.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.8 apg

A 6-7 and 210-pound wing player, DeVries can knock it down from the perimeter; he hit 87 triples on the season, shooting 38.7% from downtown.

He’s also a player that can mix it up underneath, so the Canes will not just be guarding DeVries around the edge of the 3-point line.

Matchup to Watch

Miami’s Jordan Miller versus Drake's DeVries. That’s going to be a great head-to-head battle to watch. Both players possess the ability to score in a myriad of ways and also play inside and out.

Other Key Note

The game will take place on Friday. If nothing else, that will be one extra day for Omier to prep his ankle and be ready to play basketball.

All Hurricanes will have a more intricate look at both teams, the matchups overall, and a game final score prediction, all starting on Monday.
