Miami's Isaiah Wong Wins ACC Player Of The Year
This past offseason for the Miami Hurricanes basketball team was a rollercoaster. From the departures of Kameron McGusty and Charlie Moore to the transfers of Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier, this Miami Hurricanes roster still retained their top guy Isaiah Wong as he headed back for his final season in Coral Gables.
This evening, Wong was announced as the ACC Player of The Year following a campaign that saw him lead Miami to a 24-6 record and 14th in the AP Poll. His season averages were as follows:
15.9 points per game
4.4 rebounds per game
3.4 assists per game
1.4 steals per game
44.2 percent from the field
38.1 percent from three
He saw his career high in points this season with a 36-point outing against Cornell at home. Furthermore, one of his best games of the season game against #6 Virginia where he helped Miami jump up the AP Poll rankings.
Wong beat out the likes of UNC's Armando Bacot, NC State's Terquavion Smith, and Wake Forest's Tyree Appleby.
Additionally, Wong was selected All-ACC First-Team.
Wong will look to carry on his strong campaign into the ACC Tournament this week as well as the NCAA Tournament the following week. Wong was instrumental in Miami's run last season to the Elite 8 in their eventual loss to the Kansas Jayhawks.
Regardless of what happens, Wong ends his career in Coral Gables out with some nice hardware.
