Miami's Worst Offensive Performance In ACC History Leads To A 60-38 Loss At Virginia
The Hurricanes knew that going on the road to face the Cavaliers would be a tough environment, but they probably didn't think it'd be this bad.
Shooting just 28.6% from the field and scoring a season-low 38 points, Miami missed out on another Quad 1 win opportunity as they fall to the Cavaliers 60-38.
Offensively this game didn't provide much at all, as Virginia's Reece Beekman led the way with a game-high 16 points and seven assists to give the Cavaliers their ninth ACC win of the season. Sophomore Ryan Dunn had an all-around effort with eight points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Virginia has now put themselves into firmly into the NCAA Tournament talk as an at large bid. Their win streak sits at seven in a row as they climb the ACC standings to 9-3 in conference play.
For Miami, it was a night to simply forget. Only one Miami player scored in double-figures, as Norchad Omier had 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Hurricanes shot just 10% from three on 20 attempts, as Wooga Poplar made the only two shots behind the arc.
Freshman Kyshawn George got injured early in the first half and didn't return to the game. One of the bright spots for Miami this year, his status is unknown going into the weekend.
The week is only getting started for Miami, as they'll play host to one of the best teams in the country in North Carolina on Saturday in a game that could get ugly. They'll follow it up with back-to-back road games before returning to face Duke.
The way things are looking, Miami will have to win the ACC Tournament to have a chance to make the NCAA Tournament.
