REPORT: EA Sports Sets Release Date For New College Football Video Game
It's been over a decade since EA Sports released a college football video game.
The game was discontinued after the 2013 release of NCAA Football 14. Ed O'Bannon's class action lawsuit against the NCAA determined the governing body was violating anti-trust laws by barring payments for athletes.
Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) have opened the door for us to get back to the action. It's coming back!
The game will now be called EA Sports College Football.
According to a new report from David Waters, EA has set a release date of July 12th, 2024.
We're rooting for Waters to be correct here, but as of Tuesday afternoon, EA Sports has not confirmed a hard date for the game to drop.
Matt Brown, publisher of The Extra Point newsletter, provided a follow-up:
Whenever the game finally comes, Miami Hurricanes fans will be able to score touchdowns as Cam Ward, Xavier Restrepo, and Mark Fletcher and sack opposing quarterbacks as Rueben Bain.
We don't know yet which current or former college football player or coach will grace the cover.
