Former Hurricanes Quarterback Could be Buccaneers' Next Offensive Coordinator

The lineage of great Miami Hurricanes quarterbacks is long and so are its ties to the NFL.

From the likes of Jim KellyVinny Testaverde, and Gino Torretta, among many others who were behind center for Miami, The U has an incredible quarterback tradition. Kelly began the rise of Miami football when he came to Coral Gables in 1978. Since then, no college football program has consistently pumped out NFL quarterback talent quite like the Hurricanes. That includes the following Cane.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Tampa Buccaneers will interview former Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey. This is not happening today but next week. He's in the middle of all the NFL coaching moves but was once a big-time player for the Hurricanes.

Dorsey is a player who helped catapult Miami to the forefront of college football from 1999 through 2022, including being the starting signal-caller for Miami's famous 2001 national championship team. During his UM career, Dorsey threw for 9,565 yards and 86 touchdowns.

Dorsey's NFL career includes six seasons, three with the San Francisco 49ers and three with the Cleveland Browns. Not long after his playing career concluded, he's been an NFL coach. 

Dorsey has been on coaching staffs with the Carolina Panthers from 2013 through 2017, as well as the Buffalo Bills from 2019 through Week 10 of 2023. Good luck to Dorsey no matter where he coaches this next season.
