Former Hurricanes Quarterback Ken Dorsey To Join Cleveland Browns As Offensive Coordinator

Dorsey Joins The Cleveland Staff And Will Coach Former Miami Hurricane David Njoku

We've seen former Hurricanes team up on the field as players, but now we have a coach/player combo coming together in Cleveland.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport shared Sunday evening that former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Ken Dorsey is set to join Kevin Stefanski's staff as the new offensive coordinator for the 2024-25 season.

Dorsey was let go by the Buffalo Bills after their 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos and 5-5 start to the season. Now, he'll head off to take control of a Cleveland offense that features one of the top tight ends in the league and a former Hurricane in David Njoku.

Njoku had a career season for the Browns, putting up 81 receptions for 882 receiving yards and earning his first Pro Bowl nod of his career. He'll look to build upon that success as one of the top receiving options for this Browns team next season.

Dorsey got his start in coaching at the NFL level with the Carolina Panthers in 2013-2017 as the quarterbacks coach, where he helped coach Cam Newton during his MVP season in 2015. In an article from USA Today at the time of his hire in Buffalo, Newton shared that he credited a lot of his success as a player to Dorsey.

After working with Josh Allen the previous four and a half years, where Allen had two top three MVP finishes in that period, Dorsey will be looked at to help rejuvenate a once top tier quarterback in Deshaun Watson

Since joining the Cleveland Browns via trade after the 2021 season, Watson has not been the player the Browns were hoping for when they handed him a fully-guaranteed $230 million contract. Watson's 2023 season ended in Week 10 when he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during their win over the Baltimore Ravens.

While Dorsey's past season with the Bills wasn't a great look on him, he'll get another chance as offensive coordinator to help elevate this Browns team. With one of the best offensive lines in the league paired with one of the top running backs in Nick Chubb, Dorsey has the offensive tools to make this one of the best units in football.
