Former Miami Quarterback Comments On Canes' Current Depth Chart

Former Cane is high on the current quarterbacks

Miami's quarterback depth chart is certainly good.

Former Hurricanes quarterback Jacory Harris believes it is one of the best. Here's what the 2008-2011 Miami signal-caller said on his X handle:

"Day 1 was encouraging to watch! @univmiami might have the best quarterback room in the country!"

Indeed, that's a ringing endorsement if there ever was one. Harris stood along the wall of the Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility and watched practice right along with the UM media. He's not wrong in his assessment either.

Right in front of everyone watching, Miami's quarterbacks continuously threw catchable passes even when there would be tight coverage. Cam Ward is the signal caller everyone came to see. He certainly has unique skills and will be The U's starter this season.

The arm talent to make passes from numerous angles and do so with accuracy, it's going to be fun to watch him throw to Xavier Restrepo, Isaiah Horton, and several other pass catchers. It's the depth that is surprising for Harris and everyone else.

Albany transfer Reese Poffenbarger has tremendous touch on his deep ball and a great sense of timing with tight-window throws. The most accurate quarterback of the entire group could be Emory Williams. Despite his late-season arm injury, Williams is already in mid-season form. There's also Jaccuri Brown, a player who's been a starter in at least one game in 2022 and 2023. Finally, there's incoming freshman Judd Anderson with his 6-foot-7 frame that shows promise.

Miami has a bevy of quality quarterbacks. Including from Harris, they are getting some well-deserved attention.
