History shows that Cristobal helps rebuild college football programs.

How fast will Mario Cristobal turn around the Miami football program?

He's seen consistent success in helping rebuild programs. Looking at Cristobal's bio on the Miami athletics site, even from 1998 through 2000 as a graduate assistant with former UM head coach Butch Davis, he's been around programs that saw massive turnarounds.

The year after Cristobal left the Canes won the 2001 national title. The Canes were on probation right before that. As a head coach for Florida International, he directed a massive roster overhaul that saw the Panthers win the 2010 Sun Belt Conference title. Prior to that run with FIU, it had massive scholarship losses due to probation.

Heading into Year 3 as the Miami head coach, will it be the season where the Hurricanes take a major step forward? When Cristobal took over UM's talent did not represent the UM of old. Miami went 7-6 last year but the 2024 roster is full of young talent from the prep ranks and the Transfer Portal.

Could 2024 be the year the Canes reach the College Football Playoff?

Cristobal's recent ACC radio interview displays how confident he is that another turnaround is coming under his leadership. Here's a key quote:

"Everything we're doing, we're building for sustainability. No BS, no shirts, no tweets or slogans, Cristobal said of Miami's efforts to rebuild. "We're working and putting it together and learning it. That's been our experience and all of our rebuilds have been extremely successful."

Here's the full audio clip that's on X. Cristobal is candid about his expectations with Miami's rebuild, that's for sure.
