Hurricanes Sports Report
Congratulations to the Miami women's basketball team for its 73-59 win over #4 North Carolina State.
The Lady Canes made their presence felt early on as they went from a 9-8 lead with 5:42 left in the first quarter to a 27-14 lead with 7:25 to play in the second quarter.
The biggest key to victory would be Miami's defensive effort. The Lady Wolfpack ended with just a 28.1% field goal success rate. Offensively, three Miami players tied for the team lead in points.
Starting guards Shayean Day-Wilson and Jasmyne Roberts, as well as reserve guard Lashaye Dwyer, hit 22 of 40 combined shot attempts to each finish with the same scoring total.
Big Miami Junior Day
It's just over a week before Mario Cristobal and the Canes will host numerous top 2025 recruits across the nation. The list of recruits is long. It does include several 4-star and even 5-star prospects.
One of the nation's top recruits would be Zephyrhills (Fla.) High School safety DJ Pickett. The Canes just signed his cousin, Booker Pickett, Jr. Miami will be battling several top programs for his services, but it's a great sign that Pickett is making the trek down from the Tampa area to see The U next weekend.
At linebacker, UM's efforts are leading to several prospects visiting. One of them would be Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County recruit Zayden Walker. He's a player who can play in the middle of the defense or go out to the edge and be a force.
Those are two of the numerous recruits coming this weekend. More information will be coming soon here at AllHurricanes.

The 2024 season has an easier path for the Hurricanes as there will not be a matchup with North Carolina State, North Carolina, or Clemson.
So, which three games will be the most difficult? Here's a clip from Thursday's Locked On Canes episode diving into the subject:
