Canes Lose Cornerback to Transfer Portal

Miami gained three cornerbacks via the Transfer Portal, and now lose one

Not every situation works out. For cornerback Chris Graves, he came to the University of Miami last season. Graves redshirted and did not see game action.

Now he is in the Transfer Portal.

The Canes previously brought in Davonte Brown (UCF), Jaden Davis (Oklahoma), and Jaidas Richard (Vanderbilt) from the Transfer Portal to help out in 2023 and beyond.

So, to some extent, the Hurricanes cornerback depth chart is a group with some new talent in addition to the other players already on the roster. Maybe that's a part of why Graves departed? He would certainly be facing quite a bit of competition. He is talented, however, so it's only speculation.

Coming from Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot, Graves was expected to be a part of Miami's long-term solution to rebuilding the cornerback room. No matter the reason he is now transferring, good luck to Graves regardless of where he decides to transfer.

As a note to Miami fans, with the beginning of fall camp right around the corner, it's a good bet that there will be a handful of more transfers at Miami and across college football. Playing time is king and many players simply will not wait it out, or a coaching change took place, etc.

That's college football in 2023.
