Things are beginning to click at practice for some of the Miami Hurricanes' most talented true freshmen.

During the past two weeks I have spoken and written extensively about OL Francis Mauigoa, DL Rueben Bain, WR Nathaniel "Ray Ray" Joseph, and RB Mark Fletcher

Miami's young linebackers are stepping up, too, especially Raul "Popo" Aguirre and Malik Bryant

Veteran Hurricanes linebackers Wesley Bissainthe, Francisco Mauigoa, KJ Cloyd and Corey Flagg all spoke highly of Aguirre on Tuesday. They said Popo is picking up the playbook quickly and popping in practice.

On Wednesday, full pads came on for the first time, and Bryant's physicality was on full display.

On my Locked On Canes podcast, I sat down with recruiting experts Brian Smith and Larry Blustein to break down Aguirre and Bryant:

Smith and Blustein covered these players extensively during their high school days. The consensus seems to be that both will carve out a spot in Miami's linebacker rotation this year.

Each of them possess the physical maturity necessary to get on the field quickly. Coming out of high school, Aguirre was listed 6-2, 220 while Bryant came in at 6-2, 225. They're probably even bigger now after incorporating the Canes strength and conditioning program.

I am not sleeping on the other two freshmen, either. Bobby Washington and Marcellius Pulliam will have opportunities ties to compete before the season begins on September first.
