The Hurricanes are set to lose their dynamic duo from the defensive backfield

It's decision time for players all over the country. Miami is seeing a handful of players hit the transfer portal, while others weigh their options of going pro.

Gaby Urrutia from Inside The U reported on Tuesday that junior safeties Kam Kinchens and James Williams will declare for the NFL Draft.

Perhaps Miami has a shot to keep Williams, though. Despite the report, Williams' agent Eric Dounn notes that no final decision has been made just yet...

Urrutia notes that Kinchens is the top ranked safety prospect by CBS Sports. He was named an AP All American after the 2022 season. Over the past two years he's recorded 11 interceptions and 118 tackles.

Williams has posted 132 tackles over the past two years. In 2023 he led the Canes with 73 tackles. Williams' 6-5 frame makes him an intriguing NFL prospect. A transition from safety to outside linebacker could be in his future. He offers rare coverage ability for a player his size.
