Miami Hurricanes Legend Leon Searcy Offers Powerful Advice For Canes Players Past, Present And Future
Former Miami Hurricanes offensive tackle Leon Searcy is without a doubt the best storyteller to ever join me on my Locked On Canes podcast.
Searcy, a three-time national champion at Miami (1987, 89, 91), and "The Truth Teller" Bruce Warner hopped aboard the show on Tuesday.
Bruce asked Leon about the importance of all five offensive linemen playing together as a unit. Searcy's answer turned into an incredible motivational speech that every Miami Hurricanes football player from the past, present and future needs to hear.
Searcy lays out the importance of understanding the history of the program and playing for the honor of those who wore The U on their helmet before you. He warns of the pitfalls that come with ego, social media likes, and greed.
"You are a representation of all the greats that played before you. It is bestowed upon you, as a player (at Miami,) to represent those who came before you to the fullest."
Searcy's football story is an incredible one. In the full episode, he explained why he didn't begin playing organized football until his senior season of high school. Searcy told an amazing story about how the O-Line went against coaches orders to make the adjustments necessary to beat Florida State in 1991. Plus, what really happened when he lined up in practice against Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson?
