Miami Showed Fight And Grit Against Florida State, But The Loss Still Stings | Donno's View
I am so proud of the way the Miami Hurricanes fought, but I'm still disappointed to lose to our most bitter rival.
We broke down the good, the bad, and the missed opportunities from Miami's 27-20 loss on our new episode of Locked On Canes.
Emory Williams embodied the true Miami Hurricanes spirit, putting his body on the line to move the chains on a do-or-die fourth down. Williams, most importantly, took care of the football even though he had some "freshman moments" in the second half. He showed poise and threw two big touchdown passes to Jacolby George.
Williams suffered an arm injury on that fourth down conversion and will likely miss the remainder of the year. Will Miami turn back to Tyler Van Dyke, who took over on the final drive, or will they give an opportunity to sophomore Jacurri Brown?
Miami's defense played well enough to win. We highlighted excellent performances from linebackers Kiko Mauigoa, Wesley Bissainthe and Corey Flagg. Bissainthe was robbed of a safety. It's the second time Miami has had a safety incorrectly not ruled this year.
I was proud of the way the young starting cornerbacks played. Freshman Damari Brown and redshirt freshman Jadais Richard started due to injuries in the secondary. Brown had an excellent overall performance against FSU's Keon Coleman, one of the top WRs in the country. Coleman finished with 4 catches for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Miami will return home next Saturday to host the Louisville Cardinals at Noon from Hard Rock Stadium.
