The Miami Hurricanes will be keeping a key component of its coaching staff in Coral Gables, and hopefully for several years to come.

Former Miami Dolphins star, and now NFL Hall of Fame inductee, Jason Taylor, will become the Hurricanes next defensive ends coach per the Miami Herald.

Taylor was an NFL player from 1997 through 2011. He recorded 774 tackles, 139.5 sacks, 47 forced fumbles, 29 fumble recoveries, and 8 interceptions. After completing his NFL career, Taylor transitioned to coaching at nearby prep powerhouse Saint Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale.

Taylor was the defensive line coach from 2017-2019, and then the defensive coordinator for two seasons in 2020-2021. After his five overall years at STA, Taylor moved on to join Mario Cristobal's first Miami staff in 2022 as a defensive analyst.

The opportunity for Taylor to become a defensive ends coach will be his first at the college level, but there's no doubt that his dedication to the sport of football, especially as a pass rusher, will bolster the Miami defensive front.

Taylor will immediately get a chance to work at his new position as the Hurricanes take to the practice field beginning on Saturday for the first day of spring ball.

This was an exciting hire for the Hurricanes and the Miami faithful should be excited.
