How Miami Hurricanes Freshmen Fletcher And Bain Are Adapting | Donno Video
In addition to Francis Mauigoa, who will likely start at right tackle, another pair of talented freshmen have earned praise from their coordinators.
Running back Mark Fletcher is adapting well to the college game, according to offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. The former American Heritage standout might very well present Miami's best option near the goal line. He stands 6-1 and weighs roughly 223 pounds. He's not only a well-rounded back, but he's a battering ram.
Meanwhile, few of you will be surprised to hear that Rueben Bain has been standing out. Unlike Fletcher, Bain was enrolled for spring football. He recorded 3 sacks in the spring game and appears to be picking up right where he left off.
Defensive coordinator Lance Guidry said about Bain, "I expect him to play a lot."
Bain recorded 39 sacks last season at Miami Central, playing against the top competition in Florida. He has the unique advantage of being as big as a tackle (270 lbs) while possessing the quickness and footwork of a rushing end. Even if Bain doesn't start, he'll rotate onto the field frequently. Being able to use him as an interior rusher on 3rd downs seems like a natural fit.
I also love what I am seeing so far from WR Ray Ray Joseph, DT Joshua Horton, CB Damari Brown, and TE Riley Williams.
