Miami Hurricanes Offseason Progress And Opportunities Coming For Certain Players | Donno Podcast

Which Miami players can improve their stock between now and spring football?
In this story:

Offseason workouts are ramping up at the University of Miami with just over a month left before the start of spring practices.

Miami players are training on the Greentree practice fields and going through the strength and conditioning program. Key additions like quarterback Cam Ward, center Zach Carpenter, and freshman receiver Joshisa Trader are getting in their first workouts in as Hurricanes.

First impressions are being made. Reporter DMoney from CanesInsight shared some early intel on how the newest Canes have been performing. He mentions Ward reportedly being "exactly what they expected, in a good way." Albany transfer quarterback Reese Poffenbarger is also earning "high marks."

I broke down some of the early reports and examined some important storylines on my Locked On Canes podcast.

On the episode, I discussed how nice it is seeing photos of running back TreVonte' Citizen working out with teammates. He's missed his first two collegiate seasons due to a serious knee injury from 2022. By all accounts, Citizen is fully healthy now. He can hit the ground running this spring with Mark Fletcher set to miss spring practices after undergoing offseason foot surgery. Citizen, at 6-1 220 lbs, is similar physically to Fletcher (6-2 225).

Speedy redshirt freshman RB's Chris Johnson Jr and early enrollee freshman Chris Wheatley-Humphrey also have an important opportunity to impress their coaches. They are two of the fastest players on the team.

Miami will host their first official spring practice on March 4th. The annual spring game is schedule for April 13th.
