Which Miami receivers will build the most rapport with their new quarterback?

Miami Hurricanes transfer quarterback Cam Ward has been working out with his new teammates ahead of the start of spring football 2024.

The former Washington State standout enrolled at Miami in January after throwing for 3,735 yards with 25 touchdowns and 7 interceptions last season at Washington State. Even though Miami doesn't begin their formal spring practices until March 4th, throwing sessions and workouts have been taking place since the spring semester began.

In a new video released by the Canes Connection NIL collective, Ward described his impressions of Miami receivers Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George and Joshisa "JoJo" Trader

“Strep (Restrepo) is our dawg," Ward said. Jacolby, he’s gonna be the factor that’s gonna take us all the way. The young cat that I’ve been throwing to recently, JoJo, he’s that special player that not a lot of teams have in the country at that age, for their freshman year, but I feel like he’s gonna be a huge impact player for us.”

Early reports have been positive on the connections that Ward is building with all three. It's impressive to hear the way he talks about Trader, since JoJo is an early enrollee freshman.

Restrepo and George were two of the ACC's top three receivers last year in terms of yardage. Restrepo hauled in 1,092 yards and six touchdowns. George led the Hurricanes with eight receiving touchdowns and ranked third in the conference with 864 yards. Trader caught 14 touchdowns in his senior season at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna.

Ward will have several additional weapons in his Miami arsenal, including receivers Isaiah Horton, Nathaniel "Ray Ray" Joseph, and Robbie Washington, along with tight ends Riley Williams and Elijah Arroyo, among others.
