The 2024 Miami Hurricanes football schedule offers plenty of storylines for fans to get invested in.

First and foremost, Miami has the type of schedule that should allow them to at least contend for an ACC Championship Game appearance. The Florida State game is at home, the Hurricanes avoid Clemson and NC State (two of the tougher teams in the ACC), and they don't even leave the state of Florida until game six.

I broke down the schedule on my Locked On Canes podcast with some extra context:

-No, I am not literally predicting a 12-0 season. The thumbnail above is meant to be tongue in cheek. I do, however, think the Hurricanes can win 9 or 10 games so long as Cam Ward has a strong season and the team stays relatively healthy.

-The home game against Duke on November 2nd will be important well beyond the conference standings. Former Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz, fired before Mario Cristobal arrived, is now head coach of the Blue Devils. If Miami loses that game, Canes fans will melt down. From a narrative standpoint this is a MUST-WIN game for the Hurricanes.

-I haven't seen an opening line yet for the opener at Florida. It would not surprise me if Miami opens as a slight favorite even on the road at The Swamp. The Hurricanes will likely be an underdog at Louisville and home against Florida State. They might potentially be favored in the other ten.

-Miami's consecutive games at Louisville and vs. Florida State on October 19th and 26th could make or break their entire season.

-Louisville is the new squad for former Miami running back Don Chaney, a South Florida product and fan favorite.

-The road trip to Cal Berkeley on October 5th will be the farthest Miami has traveled for a regular season game since they faced the Washington Huskies in Seattle in September of 2000.

-I love the fact that the Hurricanes open against Florida. These teams met annually from 1938 up until 1987 when Florida took the Hurricanes off their regular schedule. Old school fans like myself often consider this to be a more heated rivalry than the one against FSU. Miami is 12-9 all time at Florida Field (aka The Swamp).
