Tyler Van Dyke, Xavier Restrepo & Shannon Dawson Stock SOARING For Miami Hurricanes | Donno Video
In 2022, the Miami Hurricanes offense sputtered and finished 97th in points per game. So far, under new coordinator Shannon Dawson, the Canes are 7th in the nation, scoring 43.8 points per contest.
The Hurricanes are 8th in yards per game with 519, 21st in passing yardage (296.5) and 12th in rushing yards (222.5).
Dawson has injected balance and creativity. His players are executing.
Who's stock is rising highest?
Tyler Van Dyke
Miami's starting quarterback has put himself into the Heisman trophy conversation. He's completed 74.7 percent of his throws for 1,042 yards, 11 touchdowns and just 1 interception.
He's the top graded quarterback in the country, per Pro Football Focus.
The entire offensive line
The big-eaters up front have set the tone for the entire offense to operate like a well-oiled machine.
Miami's O-line has only surrendered four sacks in four games.
They've already paved the way for a 323 yard rushing performance against Temple and a 250 yard outing against Miami (OH).
All five starters, Jalen Rivers, Javion Cohen, Matt Lee, Anez Cooper and freshman Francis Mauigoa have played together like a cohesive unit. I give extra props to Rivers since he wasn't a natural left tackle before this season. He took that role over full time while Zion Nelson continues to recover from injury.
Xavier Restrepo
The Canes' star slot receiver has been feasting. He's second on the team behind Van Dyke in overall PFF grade at 90.3
"X" has 24 catches for 355 yards and two touchdowns. He missed a big chunk of last season with injury. Now he's reminded us just how good he is.
Last season, Miami's leading wide receiver (excluding tight ends) was Colbie Young at 376 yards. You can expect not only Restrepo, but also Young and Jacolby George, to surpass that total in 2023 with ease.
The Hurricanes have the bye week coming up. They'll return to action at home on Saturday, October 7th at 8pm, hosting Georgia Tech.
