Why Cam Ward Is Keeping The Miami Hurricanes Waiting, What To Expect From Jacurri Brown vs Rutgers | Donno Podcast
Cam Ward's family indicated earlier this month that his decision would take place around Christmas. The Washington State transfer quarterback has not made up his mind just yet between Miami, Florida State, or the NFL Draft.
Accord to Gary Ferman from CaneSport, Ward does not want to "pull the trigger on college until they are 100% sure that the NFL is not the right option." Ferman added that the Ward family does not seem to be in a hurry.
We discussed Ward's timeline and what it means for Miami on my Locked On Canes podcast.
We believe Miami is further advanced with Ward than Florida State or any other college destination. However, the longer this decision drags out, the more uncertainty it creates.
If Ward does indeed choose the NFL, Miami may lose out on other options while they wait. Will Howard, believed to be Miami's other favorite option, is now trending strongly to Ohio State.
Other options remain on the table for now. Miami has reportedly shown interest in Arkansas transfer KJ Jefferson. On Tuesday, Arizona's Jayden de Laura entered the Transfer Portal.
On the podcast we also discussed Miami's opportunity this week against Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl. I am very excited to watch Jacurri Brown get the start at QB.
When we last watched Brown start games in 2022, he was playing behind a dreadful offensive line. The unit dramatically improved since last year. I also brought up the point that when watching Brown in scrimmages, we don't get to see him play up his strengths as a dynamic runner. We can see his full skillset on display against the Scarlet Knights.
My guest on Locked On Canes, Bruce Warner, wondered if Miami could change their transfer portal strategy IF Brown has an excellent performance in the Pinstripe Bowl.
