The Miami Hurricanes just earned a massive team victory, 28-20 in double overtime, over the Clemson Tigers. The Hurricanes got it done without veteran starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who sat out with a right leg injury.

Van Dyke was a game time decision. The final call to sit him was made during warmups.

Will TVD be back this Saturday against Virginia?

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal joined The Joe Rose Show on 560 WQAM on Monday morning.

Rose asked Cristobal: "Do you expect (Van Dyke) to have a chance to play this week?"

Cristobal said, "Yeah, we do. Last week really caught us off guard, it really did. You saw him, he walked off the field after North Carolin and was fine. There was nothing really looming. That one caught us off guard. He was really close to being able to go (against Clemson), so yeah, we feel really good about next week."

Van Dyke's understudy, true freshman Emory Williams, showed poise and potential in his first collegiate start. He completed 24 of 33 passes for 151 yards, one touchdown, and an interception

Williams engineered the game-tying drive in the fourth quarter, throwing a clutch touchdown pass to WR Colbie Young

It would be great to have Van Dyke back as soon as possible, but it's nice to know that Miami is capable of beating a tough opponent without QB1.
