Sometimes, it’s just obvious. For the Miami Hurricanes coaches and those that cover their recruiting efforts, it was never a matter of if Rueben Bain, Jr. would be a big-time performer for the Orange and Green. It was only a matter of when.

Speed, quickness, and natural agility came to the forefront each time he suited up for Miami (Fla.) Central. That's why the now former Rocket held offers from Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, and many other programs before Bain made his decision to be a Cane. He's certainly off to a hot start, with the Clemson contest being his best work to date.

After his eight tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble during the 28-20 victory over Clemson, Bain is certainly earning high praise and it's deserving.

Beyond the statistics, it’s how Bain makes plays that sometimes creates extra attention. He’s roughly 280 pounds. Bain is still a freshman though. How strong could this young man be?

That being the case, how does one explain the following play?

The Canes hold an illustrious history with defensive linemen. Some of the names like Cortez Kennedy, Greg Mark, Rusty Medearis, Warren Sapp, Jerome Brown, Jerome McDougal, Kenard Lang, and Vince Wilfork represent some of the all-time greats.

With the obvious power – plus his natural athleticism – Bain is well on his way to becoming a Miami great himself. Bain's next chance to do damage comes this next Saturday versus Virginia inside of Hard Rock Stadium.
