Two Miami Players Inducted Into Pro Football Hall Of Fame

Two of Miami's greatest players heading to the Hall of Fame
In this story:

Two former Miami players are heading to Canton

It's an incredible honor from several years of elite performances at the highest level. They are also adding to nine more Hurricanes that have the NFL's highest individual honor.

Players like Ted Hendricks (1990), Jim Kelly (2002), Cortez Kennedy (2012), and Ray Lewis (2018) are part of the greats now with their storied careers inside the Hall of Fame walls in Canton, Ohio. Devin Hester and Andre Johnson are joining them.

Last night's NFL Honors announced the 2024 inductees. For Hester and Johnson, the induction is well deserved.

Hester is one of the most dynamic return men in football history. 19 total touchdowns from punt and kickoff returns! Hester is certainly in the discussion for the greatest return man in NFL history. NFL.com writer Adam Rank agrees with his following statement on Hester's Hall of Fame induction.

"There was nothing like the anticipation you felt as Devin Hester prepared to return a kickoff or punt. And after a few years of waiting for the ultimate honor, Hester is finally -- rightfully -- a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame."

He also has 255 receptions, 3,311 yards, a 13-yard average, and 16 touchdowns as a receiver to his credit. The second Cane heading to Canton is a pure receiver.

Johnson's 1,062 receptions, 14,185 yards, 13.4-yard average, and 77 touchdowns are some of the best receiving statistics from any NFL era. He was a dominant big-bodied receiver that defensive backs would struggle with.

Ranks' statement about Johnson going to Canton is also true to its word.

"I figured the voters would start breaking up the logjam of wide receiver candidates in my Class of 2024 prediction earlier this week, and they did just that: Andre Johnson is going in! Some people were hung up on the fact that the longtime Texan never scored double-digit touchdowns in a single season. Not me! Johnson is one of just three players to lead the NFL in receiving yards in back-to-back years, along with Jerry Rice and Calvin Johnson. He belongs."

Congratulations to Hester and Johnson for their incredible careers leading them to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
