Who Will Be Miami's Top Players In EA College Football 25?
While there hasn't been an official release date announced, EA College Football 25 has confirmed their release date of this summer for the most highly anticipated release of the summer.
EA Sports Releases TEASER TRAILER, Updated Timeline For College Football 25 Game
With the release being several months away, this isn't stopping people from speculating who may be the highest overall players overall and on their teams.
In the case of Miami, based on what we saw last season and going forward this just might be how their top overall players shape up:
#1: Francisco Mauigoa - Linebacker
Coming in at the number one spot is Miami's top returning linebacker who was dominate last season. Ranking near the top of FBS in tackles for loss and tied with the team lead in sacks with 7.5, Mauigoa will enter the season near the top of the Butkus Award Watchlist as he'll play a pivotal role on this defense. In terms of overall rating, I see it hovering around the low 90s overall.
#2: Xavier Restrepo - Wide Receiver
One of the top returning receivers in college football, Restrepo had nearly 1,100 yards with 85 receptions and six touchdowns. Now with a better quarterback throwing him the ball, he'll be expected to have a similar season this upcoming one. Regarding his rating, I see him and Mauigoa being the only two 90+ overalls on the team with him being slightly below Mauigoa's overall.
#3: Cam Ward - Quarterback
A player that will be electric to play with on the video game with his mix of speed and arm talent, Ward comes to Miami after two successful seasons at Washington State. Miami fans will be jumping all over the opportunities to use Ward in option run plays with their talented backfield in the new game, as he's a video game style quarterback. In terms of his overall, I see Ward coming in at the high 80s mark, somewhere between 87-89.
#4: Rueben Bain - Defensive Line
One of the best true freshman in the country, Bain returns next season expected to be one of the best overall defensive linemen in the country. Finishing tied with the team high in sacks and two games with multiple sacks, there's no doubt he'll be one of Miami's highest rated players. In terms of rating, I see him falling just under Ward in that 86-87 range.
#5: Andy Borregales - Kicker
While it isn't the most glamorous high overall player, Borregales has been one of the best kickers in college football since he took over for his brother back in 2021. Since then, he has missed just one extra point attempt in his career. Nothing too much else to say but that he'll slot right into that mid 80s range.
#6: Akheem Mesidor - Defensive Line
Mesidor essentially missed all of last season with injury, but will be a major part of this defensive line this upcoming season. Coming over from West Virginia prior, he debuted at Miami with a seven sack season and should make for a dynamic duo with Bain. He'll be one of Miami's higher overall defensive lineman for a group that will be loaded with depth. Expect a mid 80s rating as well.
#7: Francis Mauigoa - Offensive Line
With what would've bene Miami's two highest overall lineman now off to the NFL Draft, Miami's star freshman tackle from last season should now be the one to assume that spot. While he did have some struggles this past season, he was recognized as a Freshman All-American by multiple outlets. He should also fall into that same range as Mesidor and Borregales overall wise.
#8: Jacolby George - Wide Receiver
The second half of Miami's talented receiver duo, George just like Restrepo broke out in this new Shannon Dawson offense and was one of the top receivers in the ACC. With big time performances like at Florida State and at North Carolina, George will also benefit tremendously from Ward. He'll likely be the last player in that same range as the previous three players.
#9: Jalen Rivers - Offensive Lineman
While Rivers did play left tackle last season, there's no telling if he'll move back in for this upcoming one. Regardless, he was a major force on Miami's line this past season for the "Great Wall of Mirabal". Not the flashiest of players, he should find his rating around the 82-84 range.
#10: Henry Parrish Jr. - Running Back
The top back in a loaded room, Parrish returns to Miami to make a dynamic pairing with Mark Fletcher Jr. yet again. While the stats don't jump off the page, Parrish has had some big games as a part of this committee and will hope to do so again this season. Ratings wise, he should fall just behind Rivers around the 81-83 mark.
