What a football game! Hats off to freshman quarterback Emory Williams for a great first start and one that Miami Hurricanes fans shall not forget. Here’s how the Canes came out victorious, 28-20, in two overtimes.

Must start with Williams and his poise!

He did not start out on fire or anything, but gradually, Williams was impactful. The comeback was in large part to the offensive line and running game (see below), but Williams made good decisions and was accurate.

For the night, Williams finished 24 of 33, 151 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Congratulations to a fantastic young man with a bright future in a Miami uniform!

Miami’s Rushing Defense!

Clemson was completely shut down in the second half and overtime. The Tigers ran 13 times for…wait for it…4 yards. Yes, 4 yards! Miami’s defense controlled Clemson up front!

Big-Play Canes!

Overall, Clemson failed in overtime when Corey Flagg, Jr. made the incredible tackle. That’s obviously the play of the game. Miami creating three turnovers during the first half allowed that to happen, however.

Those big defensive plays allowed Williams to slowly gain confidence and get better. By the fourth quarter, yes, Williams connected on some nice passes.

How about Colbie Young, too, huh? He dunked on Clemson’s secondary multiple times. For the entire game, Young finished with 6 receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown.

He’s a freshman?

If you did not know the name Rueben Bain, Jr. prior to this contest, you’ve learned his name by now! Even high-level seniors rarely play at that level. Bain was a manchild tonight and was the most disruptive defensive player for either Miami or Clemson.

For the game, Bain finished with 8 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss. Also of note, Miami finished with 5 sacks and Clemson finished with zero.

Props to the Canes offensive line and Shannon Dawson.

It was not easy with a freshman signal caller. The offensive line persevered, and so did offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. Having orchestrated two drives that led to 10 four quarter points to win the game, that was clutch for the big guys and Dawson.

One last thing...
