Top 2025 Quarterback Austin Simmons Committing Today
When you have a rocket arm that’s clocked 93-plus miles per hour off the pitching mound, and your aim as a quarterback allowed you to throw for over 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns during the 2022 season, life has been good.
Class of 2025 Pahokee (Fla.) High School quarterback Austin Simmons has proven to be a very talented performer in both baseball and football. That’s why colleges in both sports have come after him.
Just in football, Simmons has seen overtures from the likes of Miami, Florida, Florida State, UCF, Penn State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Louisville among others.
He's been favoring football, and that's likely what's driving his upcoming decision.
Even with two years of eligibility left, Simmons has decided to make a public commitment at 11 a.m. ET. It was at least somewhat surprising with the timing, or maybe not.
During this past Sunday's Elite 11 Florida regional that was held in Davenport, Fla. just outside of Orlando, Simmons might have provided a glimpse of where he’s headed based on the towel he was wearing:
The Gators towel also coincides with the prevailing thought around the recruiting industry that they lead heading into today’s announcement. It’s recruiting so anything could happen when Simmons makes his choice public, but it’s also going to be interesting to see why Simmons made his selection this early.
Wherever the smooth-throwing lefty decides to go, good luck to him. He was really good at Elite 11 (details of Simmons and other underclassmen can be found here), and he’s a top-notch athlete overall. Most importantly, Simmons has proven to be a great young man. It’s been fun covering him to date and will continue to be fun moving forward.
