Miami misses on top defensive line target Kamarion Franklin

Kamarion Franklin decided to take his talents to Oxford, Miss. and play for Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. He spurned the Miami Hurricanes, Auburn Tigers, and Tennessee Volunteers, his other three finalists.

The 6-foot-5 and 270-pound defensive lineman from Lake Cormorant (Miss.) High School has been one of the most sought after recruits in the country, with offers from additional college football programs like Alabama, Georgia, Texas, LSU, Florida, Oregon, Michigan and Penn State.

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff had Franklin in Coral Gables five different times this year. They certainly did everything they could to land this young man’s commitment.

Now the question becomes, will Franklin still be receptive to communicating with Miami and possibly even signing with the Hurricanes? National Signing Day will be Dec. 20, so there’s ample time for the Canes to flip his commitment from Ole Miss to Miami.

Here are the current rankings for Franklin. The order is national, position, and then state.

On3: 223, 21, and 3

Rivals: 11, 2, and 1

ESPN: 27, 7, and 2

247: 30, 6, and 2
