A prime target for the Miami Hurricanes would be flex tight end Caleb Odom and he has a really interesting path to where he’s at now.

Coming from Carrollton (Ga.) High School, Odom has been an integral part of the Trojans passing offense. This past season he gained over 1,100 yards.

The Trojans went undefeated and made it to the 7A state finals before losing to Mill Creek. A big reason for that success was the connection between Odom and 2026 phenom quarterback Julian “Ju Ju” Lewis.

Lewis already earned well over 30 offers already himself, and the Trojans utilized his incredible accuracy to get Odom the football whenever they could. Odom talked a little about their unique connection.

“We go through it and game plan, so we kind of knew. We’ve been talking about it the whole week. It’s kind of a connection where we can just kind of look at each other. We give each other signals, so that really helps us a lot.”

College football programs have certainly taken notice of the 6-foot-5 and 215-pound prospect. Odom has earned offers from the likes of Miami, Florida, UCF, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Colorado, and Duke among others. He also recently released a top 12 list.

Regarding the communication between Odom and Miami tight ends coach Cody Woodiel, Odom had this to say.

“He’s been telling me that I just have to come in and work,” Odom began. “I have a great chance of playing. They want guys that want to play as a freshman.

Former Miami tight ends like Willie Smith, Kellen Winslow II, Greg Olsen, Jeremy Shockey, Jimmy Graham, David Njoku, Bubba Franks, and Kevin Everett have established a long standing tradition at The U. Odom was asked about how that impacts his recruitment.

“Oh yeah, for sure. You want to go somewhere where players are getting developed. Miami is one of those places.”

Moving to Miami’s current roster, Odom admitted that he’s aware of how the Canes utilize the talents of Jaleel Skinner and other young tight ends.

“Seeing how they use them, it makes me feel like I can fit into this offense really easily.”

Odom also has plans to take an official visit to Coral Gables.

“I’m trying to get back there for an official visit right now. I want to lock in an official there. I’m trying to get back, hopefully, one more time for an unofficial (visit), but if not, then I’ll definitely lock in that June date (for an official visit)."

He already went to Miami before, and Odom talked about what he likes about the Hurricanes overall.

"Miami, they showed a lot of love when I went out there (for an unofficial visit). They have a great tight end room. So I'm ready to get down there (for an official visit)."

As for the programs that have been likely for Odom to take an official visit, Odom provided details on one other program beyond The U.

“Just Colorado and Miami right now. Like, for sure that I want to go to. Brewster, coach Prime and all them up there. Want to see what they’re cooking up, so I’m going to get up there and see what they’ve got going.”

There have continued to be other programs in contention for Odom’s services by recruiting him hard as well.

“I’d say Ole Miss, Tennessee, Georgia, Bama, that would be some of them.”

One of the reasons that Odom has been such a top-notch wide receiver that’s growing into a flex tight end would be sheer athleticism. He’s also been a talented basketball player, just to give a person a snapshot of Odom’s physical skills. He discussed that point as it relates to being recruited for hoops.

“Yeah, I play on the EYBL circuit for basketball. So, I was able to get some looks. I know Vanderbilt wanted me to play both (basketball and football). That’s why they stuck with me for so long.”

As for making his college choice, Odom gave insights to his thought process on that subject as well.

“Yeah, I’m doing it before the season for sure. Hopefully I can get it done late July or early August, just before the season.”
