Armondo Blount is a 5-Star prospect according to every recruiting service known to man. The standout Miami Central defensive lineman chose the Hurricanes over Florida State, Florida, Alabama and Ohio State last Thursday.

Blount has become a legend around high school football circles. He's been a standout varsity athlete since eighth grade, while at Fort Lauderdale Dillard.

When seeking a scouting report on Blount, I couldn't think of anyone better to ask than Larry Blustein. "Our Boy Blu" has been covering high school football in the area for decades. He joined me on my Monday episode of Locked On Canes.

"He's a different level type of kid," Blustein said. "He's been the number one player in the class of 2025 for the last two years."

Blount is also the number one rated shot-putter in his class. Larry and I suspect that he would like to be part of Miami's track team in addition to playing football. He wouldn't be the only two-sport athlete on the team. Freshman running back Chris Johnson Jr also plans to run track at The U. Larry reminded me that Ed Reed also threw the javelin while at Miami.

"He's pretty much the total package," Blustein continued on Blount. "He gets it done in the classroom as well. He's a good sized kid. Quick off the ball."

Blount, currently a high school junior, is listed at 6-3.5 and 250 lbs.

There's been some chatter about Blount potentially re-classifying from the class of 2025 into the 2024 class. Blustein assures me that Armondo is physically and mentally mature enough to do just that.

"No doubt," Blustein said. "He's been at the varsity level (at big programs) now for four years."
