Are The Miami Hurricanes Favored To Land 4-Star WR Ny Carr After Georgia Decommitment?
The Miami Hurricanes have been recruiting standout Colquitt County (GA) receiver Ny Carr despite the fact that he had long been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.
He backed off from his Georgia pledge on Sunday.
The Miami Hurricanes are believed to be a team to watch here.
Steve Wiltfong, director of recruiting for 247 Sports, shared an update on where things stand:
"One source with knowledge of the recruitment believes that Miami is the program to beat moving forward," Wiltfong wrote. "Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes have been making a strong push behind the scenes, and Carr likes the direction of the program."
I sat down with All Hurricanes publisher Brian Smith to break down the situation.
The Hurricanes have been flying offensively to start the season. The Canes are 7th in the nation in scoring. High school receivers, like Carr, are clearly taking notice.
Florida State and Auburn are also believed to be in the mix in Carr's recruitment. I have been told Auburn might be the team to watch beyond Miami. Carr is reportedly visiting Auburn this weekend.
Smith told me, "I've heard Miami is the team, but Auburn has a visit coming up, and they're pretty hot on the recruiting trail." Brian notes that Auburn's offense hasn't looked as dynamic as Miami's so far in 2023.
Carr is a 5-11, 170 lb playmaker in the slot. Four games into his senior season, he's already caught 30 passes for 489 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Miami has verbal commitments already in the class of 2024 from 4-Star wideouts Joshisa Trader and Chance Robinson. The Hurricanes are also making efforts to try and flip 5-Star Jeremiah Smith from his commitment to Ohio State.
