Miami Wide Receiver Prospect Discusses Hurricanes And His Recruitment

Miami will be hard to beat for elite wide receiver recruit
In this story:

Miami is doing its best to keep one of South Florida's best football recruits home.

The No. 77 player in the nation according to Rivals, Cortez Mills is a proven commodity. According to Mills and his X page, "1550+ Yard Season" as a junior. When a person adds Mills' Under Armour Miami camp, it's no wonder how highly recruited he truly is.

Mill's long list of offers includes but is not limited to Miami, Florida State, Florida, UCF, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Utah, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Michigan.

Coming from Homestead (Fla.) High School, Mills took a few minutes to discuss his recruitment. First, Mills provides his current official visit schedule.

"May 31st I'll be at Clemson University," Mills began. "June 7th, I'll be at the Florida Gators, June 15th I'll be at Nebraska, and June 21st I'll be at Miami."

Mills does not deny the Hurricanes are high on his list. What does another college football program need to keep him from signing with the Canes?

"To knock off Miami...Miami is pretty high on my list. Not just because it's my hometown, but to knock off Miami, you just got to bring your A-Game; just keep recruiting me hard. Recruit me harder than what Miami does."

As for why the Canes are so high on Mills' list, Mario Cristobal is directly involved with his recruitment. So are several UM assistant coaches.

"Coach Kevin Beard, I mean great guy and receivers coach. He's been recruiting me since he was at Toledo. He's just been high on me.

"Coach (David) Cooney, the whole offensive coaching staff been on me. Even the defensive coaches are texting me. Miami has just been a big part of my recruitment."

As for a college decision, Mills has a timeline in mind.

"I'm planning on making my commitment after my official visits. So like, end of summer. I'm trying to commit before the start of the season."
