Miami Will Receive An Official Visit From A Top Defensive Lineman

Hurricanes want more defensive line talent

Miami recruiting stays near home for most of its recruits, but there are exceptions.

When watching the film of top defensive lineman Kevin Oatis, Jr., there are many good reasons for Miami defensive line coach Joe Salave'a to go after Rivals' #133 prospect in the nation.

Coming from Hattiesburg (Miss.) High School, Oatis is a 6-foot-2 and 285-pound athlete playing along the defensive line. He's capable of playing 4I as a defensive end in a 3-4 scheme or playing defensive tackle and/or nose guard in a 4-3.

Regardless of where he's playing, Oatis is hard to block. He just updated his official visit situation and this is what he provided.

"USC June 7, Mississippi State June 22," Oatis said of his two set visits. As for other schools under consideration, Oatis has a strong idea about those as well, despite no specific dates.

"LSU, Miami, and Ole Miss."

He's been to the local programs several times, like LSU. "I've been there like five times," Oatis admitted of trips to Baton Rouge. Miami has yet to host Oatis for a visit but that will change.

"I’m eager to go because the coaches want me there (at Miami)."

Speaking of Miami, Oatis has respect for Miami defensive line coach Salave'a.

"He's a very cool guy."

There's a long way to go with Oatis's recruitment but the Canes are in the thick of the race. He would be an excellent addition to the Miami football program.
