Michigan Basketball Targeting A Memphis Transfer

With two open scholarships remaining, the Wolverines have their eyes on a Memphis target.

Michigan basketball has begun workouts for the upcoming 2023-24 season, but the Wolverines have two open scholarships left for the season.

With one of the open spots, the maize and blue are highly targeting West Virginia graduate transfer, Jose Perez. Perez is set to take an official visit to Michigan at the end of July -- as soon as the dead period is over.

It appears the Wolverines may have a solution for their second open scholarship as well.

According to reports, Michigan is targeting the Memphis big man who entered the transfer portal, Malcolm Dandridge.

Dandridge enters the portal after playing four seasons with the Memphis Tigers. He played 101 games for the Tigers with 14 starts. During the 2022-23 season, he averaged 5.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and one block in 14 minutes per game off the bench.

The 6-foot-9 center was a three-star prospect coming out of high school. He hasn't been known for his offensive game, but he is thought of as a good rim protector on the defensive end of the floor.

Michigan is set to start Tarris Reed Jr. at center this season, but there is no backup center on the roster. It appears this would be a perfect match for the Wolverines if Juwan Howard can land Dandridge. But West Virginia, Saint Louis, and others are also after the Memphis transfer.

The Wolverines have already brought in Nimari Burnett, Tray Jackson, and Olivier Nkamhoua via the portal.
