J.J. McCarthy Continues To Soar Up 2024 Draft Boards Following Week 3 Performance
Even after a three-interception performance against Bowling Green this past Saturday night, J.J. McCarthy is still viewed as a top prospect entering the 2024 NFL draft.
CBS Sports updated their mock draft and McCarthy continues to soar up the draft board. Josh Edwards, with CBS Sports, has McCarthy going in the top 10 at No. 9 overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. McCarthy is listed as the 41st-best prospect and the No. 5 quarterback in the draft, but he believes McCarthy's skill set is what Tampa Bay would want.
J.J. McCarthy is operating on another level right now. If he can continue this level of efficiency against a higher level of competition, then he will have a strong chance to be that third quarterback taken.
Even after McCarthy's worse performance in the maize and blue this past weekend, it's clear that scouts are in awe of the potential he possesses.
Through the first two weeks, McCarthy was the most accurate quarterback in the nation. He is now second behind Oklahoma's Dillon Gabriel -- McCarthy is completing 82.4% of his throws. McCarthy has passed for 701 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Entering Big Ten play this weekend, scouts will have a better idea of what McCarthy can do in his junior season against much stiffer competition.
