Former Michigan Coach Defends Harbaugh: 'Stop Whining And Get A Better Team'

This former Michigan football coach didn't hold back when supporting Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines program.
In this story:

First-year Charlotte head coach Biff Poggi didn't hold back when he went to X (Twitter) to defend Michigan football, and specifically, Jim Harbaugh.

"I have been quiet on the Michigan situation BUT NO longer. I was closer to Jim Harbaugh over the last three years than anyone except his wife and kids. If Jim knew I would have known. I didn't know and neither did he. I stake my reputation on it. Stop whining and get a better team."

Talk about not holding back.

Poggi, who was the associate head coach with the Wolverines, coached at Michigan in 2016 as an analyst under Harbaugh. He then went and coached high school football at Saint Frances (Maryland) Academy and then came back as the associate head coach at Michigan from 2021-2022.

Poggi reiterated that Harbaugh did not know about Connor Stalions, who resigned from Michigan, scouting scheme. Stalions allegedly bought tickets to over 30 games under his name and transferred those tickets to associates who would record the signs and signals of future Michigan opponents.

Harbaugh came out with a statement saying he did not know anything about it and did not condone it.

"I want to make it clear that I, and my staff, will fully cooperate with the investigation into this matter. I do not have any knowledge or information regarding the University of Michigan football program illegally stealing signals, nor have I directed any staff member or others to participate in an off-campus scouting assignment. I have no awareness of anyone on our staff having done that or having directed that action. I do not condone or tolerate anyone doing anything illegal or against NCAA rules. No matter what program or organization that I have led throughout my career, my instructions and awareness of how we scout opponents have always been firmly within the rules. Pursuant to NCAA rules, I will not be able to comment further while this investigation takes place."

Right now, Michigan is in a state of limbo. The Wolverines have the biggest game to date on Saturday against Penn State, and while the Big Ten was reportedly going to give out some sort of reprimand to Michigan -- as of this writing it has not happened.

We will continue to update when more information becomes available.
