2026 OL Leo Delaney Talks Michigan ‘Love’ After Landing Offer
With a full coaching staff now assembled in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines have hit the recruiting trail with vigor in recent days, and 2026 Charlotte (NC) Providence Day School lineman Leo Delaney is one of the latest to land a scholarship offer.
Standing at 6-6 and 280 pounds as a sophomore, Delaney has the physical tools, burst and aggressiveness that would fit in at Michigan, and he’s already been ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports.com. Just three days ago, Michigan extended an offer to Delaney, and the punishing blocker spoke about the news with Wolverine Digest.
”I love the Michigan Wolverines,” Delaney said. “I have Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin [as friends]. They love to talk about Michigan, and they always say really great stuff about them. I love to watch them on tv just because their style of offense is so run-heavy. They’re basically telling the other team they’re going to run the ball and you can’t stop it. That’s how they won the National Championship. It was just something that I loved to watch. Their style of offense is great.”
As expected, the early reports from Delaney on the reigning National Champion Michigan Wolverines were positive. And while some analysts condemned UM’s offense as one-dimensional last season, Delaney sees Michigan’s approach as fearless and imposing in contrast.
Up to this point, Delaney has been hearing from Michigan offensive line coach Grant Newsome, and they’re working on setting up an unofficial visit this offseason. As a whole, that’s the main focus for Delaney from a recruiting perspective— time to set up more visits before football practice resumes in the summer.
“The next thing in my recruitment is I definitely want to visit as many school as I can, see as many places as I can so I can try to start to narrow this list down,” Delaney said. “I have all these amazing opportunities, and I just want to see these places in person and see how I’d fit in with the culture, so that’s a big one for me.”
Right now, Delaney holds offers from 20 schools including the likes of Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami Penn State and Texas A&M, so he’s already a national target that will continue to see his profile rise as he builds on a dominant sophomore campaign.
“It was my first year at Providence Day, and I was really excited to be on the team,” Delaney said. ”It’s a winning program. It’s a winning culture. We went out and got ourselves another state championship ring, which was something great for me. It was a decent season for me, I made sophomore All-American and All-State, so I had a pretty good season.”
Hosting Delaney on campus this offseason would go a long way for Michigan in making strides with the blue chip blocker. At the moment, 247Sports.com lists Delaney as the No. 28 overall prospect in the 2026 class.
