Blake Corum Is Ready To Be A Legend

Even though the 2022 season was incredible for Michigan, it ended in disappointing fashion for Blake Corum personally.
In this story:

Blake Corum has already done enough to cement himself as a great Wolverine but he can make it officially official with a standard Blake Corum-type season in 2023. If he's as productive this year as he has been the last two years, he'll finish in the top ten all time at Michigan in rushing yards and in the top five for rushing touchdowns. Corum doesn't chase stats, but he does pursue a legacy with aggression.

"How do I want to be remembered?" Corum rhetorically asked himself. "Am I fine with being Blake Corum, a good Michigan running back, or do I want to be a legend?"

That kind of drive, work ethic and self-motivation put Corum in the Heisman conversation last year and might have him right back there in 2023. He knows that he's good, he knows that he has a good offensive line and he knows that he's going to get opportunities. All of that was enough to bring him back to Ann Arbor for one more run.

"I've always been a confident person when I'm on that field," he said. "I know what I'm capable of and what I've been doing since I was six. I know the work that I put in is going to pay off.

"Success — I've never been like, 'Wow, that really happened,' or, 'That was luck.' For me it was like, 'No, that was preparation. That was hard work.'"

Corum has already done a lot, but he wants to do so much more and almost all of it revolves around the team goals.

"A lot of things went into my decision to come back for one more year," he said. "For me, it was really just unfinished business. I had the opportunity to go to the next level but I came back for a better cause.

"I wanted to beat Ohio State — we did that twice. I wanted to win a Big Ten Championship — won it twice. But we didn't get the job done. The No. 1 goal is to win the national championship. We have to go get it.

"Those who stay, will be champions and we're going to prove that this year."
