Darrius Clemons Looks Very Ready For 2023 Season

Michigan is going to need a receiver or two to step up and Darrius Clemons looks more than ready to do so.

Michigan is poised to be special in 2023 with talent, experience and depth across the board on both sides of the ball. But if there's one position that is just a little bit of a question mark, it's wide receiver.

Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson figure to be two reliable, productive pass catchers for quarterback JJ McCarthy, as does tight end Colston Loveland, but that No. 3 wide receiver spot is open for the taking and Darrius Clemons might just be ready to step into that spot and shine.

Clemons recently posted a picture of himself on Instagram and the true sophomore looks ready for war.

Listed at 6-3, 214 pounds, Clemons is an absolute unit. In fact, if I was a betting man I'd wager that he's north of 220 pounds looking at the photo above.

It's going to be very interesting to see how targets and receptions are distributed among the 2023 crop of pass catchers. Ronnie Bell and his 62 grabs are off to the NFL, potentially creating several opportunities for others. Johnson and Wilson will likely be McCarthy's top two wide receivers in 2023, as they had 32 and 25 catches respectively last year.

If Clemons is going to be the No. 3 wide receiver, he'll have to produce much, much more than he did as a true freshman when he had just one grab for seven yards. He's certainly physically ready but is he mentally prepared, familiar enough with the offense and willing as a blocker? All of those questions will be answered throughout fall camp as someone tries to grab that third wide receiver spot.
