Two weeks after a defensive meltdown at Wisconsin, the Wolverines rebounded in a big-time way and former starting cornerback James Whitley loved what he saw from the Michigan defenders in a 10-3 win.

James Whitley was a highly-touted defensive back recruit out of Virginia. He played a significant role as a true freshman in 1997, recording three pass breakups. He took over as a starting cornerback in 1998, a role he held for three seasons, and during his career he registered 27 pass breakups and six interceptions.
