Make Your Pick: Michigan vs. Maryland

Michigan is expected to win by a lot, but there is certainly a lot going on within and around the program right now.
In this story:

Things just keep getting weirder and weirder as the season marches on. Jim Harbaugh has agreed to his suspension and will not be on the sidelines for the game against Maryland and potentially the 1,000th win in program history and, as of earlier today, linebackers coach Chris Partridge will not be present as he has been fired. Rick Minter, who has a ton of coaching experience, will step in and take over Partridge's unit, but it's obviously a big shake up. Michigan is far more talented than Maryland, but if there was ever a trap game, this would be it given everything that's going on. Here's how we see it...

No. 3 Michigan hits the road for a matchup with Maryland and a shot at becoming the first team in College Football history to reach 1,000 program wins. They'll have to do so without head coach Jim Harbaugh, as he recently accepted a three-game suspension handed down by the Big Ten Conference.

Much like last week in Happy Valley, I don't think Harbaugh's absence will have much of a negative impact when it comes to how the Wolverines perform on the field.

What a wild game week. Michigan is preparing to move to 11-0 and rack up win No. 1,000 and unfortunately, it'll be without Jim Harbaugh. Michigan's head coach conceded to the Big Ten and accepted the conference's three-game suspension, meaning Harbaugh will miss tomorrow's contest and the regular season finale against Ohio State. Still, I expect the Wolverines to roll the Terps in College Park. If Michigan can go into Happy Valley and get a win with Harbaugh, they should definitely be able to do the same thing against Maryland. It doesn't help that linebackers coach Chris Partridge has been fired, but it's just one more thing for this veteran-laden, experienced and focused team to overcome.

Some would say this would be a major trap game for Michigan. Maryland is sandwiched in between Penn State and Ohio State. Even though the Wolverines are coming off of an emotional win over the Nittany Lions a week ago, this team is built different. Michigan has a veteran-led team and they know what’s at stake. A win over the Terrapins means a (probably) undefeated showdown with Ohio State in two weeks. I look for Michigan to come out firing against a suspect Maryland defense. The Terps allow over 200 yards through the air to the opposition, so this is a good time to get JJ rolling again. I like the Wolverines to win comfortably here.
