Mock Draft: Midseason NFL Mock Draft Has J.J. McCarthy Landing In A Big Market
Even though the New York Giants gave QB Daniel Jones a sizable extension this past offseason, it's looking like New York may be looking for its next signal caller come April.
CBS Sports came out with an updated 2024 NFL mock draft and in this mock, the Giants scoop up J.J. McCarthy with the No. 6 overall pick in the draft.
I'd be stunned if the Giants pass on a first-round quarterback in 2024. McCarthy is relatively young with a gun-slinger mentality and plenty of arm talent.
Chris Trapasso has three quarterbacks going in the first six picks on the draft. He has the Patriots trading up to pick first overall and selecting Caleb Williams and he has the Vikings taking Drake Maye right before the Giants select McCarthy.
Although McCarthy doesn't throw the football much -- he doesn't have to -- the junior signal-caller has been terrific for Michigan through six games. He's completing 77% of his throws, McCarthy has thrown for 1,290 yards, 11 scores, and three interceptions. He's putting up great stats when you stop and think he hasn't played much into the fourth quarter in any game this season.
According to CBS Sports, McCarthy is the 19th-best prospect in the draft and the No. 4 QB prospect in April.
McCarthy will suit up for the Wolverines on Saturday when Michigan hosts Indiana at Noon ET. The game will be aired on Fox.
