Three-peat!!!
How sweet it is. For the third time in a row, and this time without Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines, Michigan has defeated Ohio State in the biggest game of the entire season. The Wolverines and Buckeyes went back and forth throughout the day in Ann Arbor, but the Wolverines prevailed, 30-24. We're not going to do a three up and three down here, we're just going to focus on a few things that happened during another massive win for the Wolverines.
First of all, happy birthday to Blake Corum. His present? 88 rushing yards and two touchdowns. On senior day, Corum would not be denied when he needed yards the most. He didn't have a huge run and didn't quite get to 100 yards, but No. 2 was a beast when he needed to be and helped put the game away for the Wolverines.
JJ McCarthy wasn't necessarily a killer like he was last year in Columbus, but he was efficient and solid. He finished the day 16-for-20 for 148 yards and a touchdown. He didn't turn the ball over and had a couple of key runs despite not being 100%. The junior signal caller might not be done at The Big House, but if he is, he went out with a bang.
Unfortunately, Michigan appears to have lost Zak Zinter for the rest of the year. In the third quarter, the senior guard was engaged in a pass block set and got rolled up on. His teammates immediately signaled for the medical staff and were visibly distraught even from the press box. The authorities brought out the cart and loaded up Zinter, equipped with an air cast, before take him to the locker room and likely to a hospital.
Mike Sainristil is a monster. Despite weighing just 180 pounds, Sainristil had several of the biggest hits of the year in the game against the Buckeyes. Sainristil lit up TreVeyon Henderson after a short gain on a swing pass and late in the game, smacked 250-pound tight end Cade Stover, causing an incompletion. Sainristil didn't pick a pass off today, but he made several key plays and finished with three tackles.
More to come!!!
